Product Description

This elegant antique armoire was crafted in England around the year 1960. Today it remains in excellent overall condition with plenty of space and functionality.

Classic design

The selection of yew in this armoire is quite rich, with a luxurious complexion and a pronounced grain that would be sure to complement any setting. Two lovely arches adorn the doors. Each drawer features two brass swan neck pulls, while the entire piece rests on traditional splayed bracket feet. These are all classic Georgian style elements, taking part in a cabinetry tradition that reaches back more than two centuries. As a result, this armoire possesses a timeless beauty that will only continue to mellow and deepen as the years pass and a patina settles into the yew.

Antique armoire, modern functionality

As useful as it is beautiful, this armoire contains a great deal of storage space. In addition to the four drawers (all featuring dovetailed joints), the main compartment measures 46.5″ wide, 20.25″ deep, and 57″ high. The two doors even lock with an accompanying key, providing secure storage. Just as pieces like it have for hundreds of years, this armoire disassembles for easy movement. In total it breaks down into eight pieces–the crown, 2 doors, back, 2 sides, bottom of main cabinet, and the drawer section plus the interior shelf and bar. Certainly this antique armoire is not only stunning but also quite functional: it would make a fine addition to any English furniture collection.

Excellent condition

Few quality antique armoires survive today. Even fewer remain in excellent condition like this piece, which is as sturdy today as the day it was constructed. It is also quite beautiful, owing in part to the quality of craftsmanship but also to good care. As a result, the hardware and drawers continue to function flawlessly. However, the base in particular has sustained a number of small wear marks. These only add to the charming character of this armoire, as they are quite minor and inevitably develop as the years pass.
