Here is a gorgeous serpentine front antique bedroom dresser made from lovely flame mahogany. This is a vintage English piece made sometime around the year 1960 and in very good shape today.
Serpentine Front Shape
The shape of the front is called serpentine because it winds back and forth like an “S” or snake shape. This is a difficult shape to achieve, the wood has to be bent several times in just the right proportions. The maker of this chest did just that and the result is the beautiful piece of furniture you see here. The flame mahogany wood has a varying brown tone color which looks great with the two brass plate back pulls on each drawer. All five drawers open and close easily with one hand and were constructed with dovetailed joints. Bracket feet finish the dresser off at the bottom giving it a traditional look that fits in any decorating scheme.
Antique Bedroom Dresser Condition
This piece does have some wear marks, but these give the piece character and charm. The top and drawer fronts exhibit some light crazing and minor finish wear in small spots. Also, there are very small wear marks here and there throughout. Structurally, the antique bedroom dresser remains in perfect working and sturdy condition.
You can use this wonderful piece as a bedroom dresser for clothes storage. It would also make a great entry way or hallway piece due to its size.
On the back a small maker’s label reads “Cameo Furniture”.
