Product Description

Originating in England around the year 1960, this stunning antique breakfront bookcase was recently purchased at an estate auction in the UK. The piece is an exquisite, heirloom quality piece that would make a fine addition to any period furniture collection.

Modern Functionality

In total, this antique breakfront bookcase contains four locking glass doors, four locking wood doors, three drawers, and twelve adjustable shelves. The locks continue to operate very easily, the drawers pull in and out smoothly, and the shelves remain as sturdy as ever. Because the top half is glass, it is ideal for display. As such, this piece would be suitable either for the office or for the dining room, where it can display books or dishes. The drawers are ideal for office supplies, kitchen utensils, or similar items. The side sections have a shelf depth of 10.5″ while the middle section is 12.5″. Also, the shelves do adjust up and down.

Rich antique breakfront bookcase details

From the materials used to the techniques employed to refine them, every aspect of this piece speaks of the absolute highest quality. The mahogany displays a deep, lustrous complexion and pronounced grains that are sure to complement any setting. Solid brass swan neck pulls contrast beautifully with the wood, while elegant dental molding adorns the top. Finally fluting down the sides adds elegance. Few antique breakfront bookcases can boast such incredible beauty!
Also of note, the drawers do not have locks, just faux keyholes.

Very Good Condition

As this piece originates from 1960’s England, it does have a few minor wear marks and the like. These marks exist mostly on the plinth base, top of the bottom section, and a few on the cornice. The result is an exquisite bookcase in very good condition that will continue to grow more beautiful as the decades pass!
While this bookcase does break down into two sections (top and bottom) both sections are VERY heavy. For that reason, we will discuss shipping this bookcase with a white glove delivery with you once you have purchased it. (additional fee may apply depending on your location and flights of stairs)
