This obviously well-made antique chest on chest is a stunning piece. You will be able to store a plethora of clothes in here, utilizing the vertical space of your room. It was made in England around the year 1960 and has survived until today in very good condition.
The wood used is mahogany which has a lovely light brown color on this piece. Each drawer is accented with a beaded edge. They are small details but they make a big difference on this antique chest on chest. The handles also add a touch of elegance and subtle contrast to the wood. They are an understated swan neck drop pull done in brass.
Each of the nine drawers is fashioned with dovetailed drawer joints. This is a sign of high quality craftsmanship. Equally as important is the fact that each drawer also slides in and out very easily on their wooden runners. The drawers are tight enough in their spaces that they do not wiggle back and forth but still slide freely.
Looking at the feet, we would define the style of this piece as Queen Anne. Defined by the curved leg and flat foot, they give the dresser a little depth. Also, each foot has a little carved decoration on it.
Antique Chest on Chest Condition
The overall condition of this piece is very good. There are some small wear marks (indents and dings) here and there, but nothing that detracts from the character of this antique chest on chest. It is two pieces and does break down for the purposes of transport. We feel this lovely dresser will add function and beauty to any room.
