Here is an English antique chest of drawers that was made sometime around 1890. It has a lovely medium brown color and six spacious drawers for storage. It remains in sturdy shape today.
Mahogany Straight Front Chest
The wood used on this beautiful antique chest of drawers is a really good looking selection of flame mahogany. It has a warm, vibrant color that is sure to enhance any room you use it in. Nicely complimenting the walnut are turned wooden pulls. These pulls are quite attractive and add a little pizazz to the chest!
Also adding some interest to the dresser are carved decorations in each of the front corners.
Condition and Construction
When it was originally made, this chest of drawers was made using time honored techniques. One of these techniques is hand cutting dovetails to fit the drawers together. A dovetailed joint is stronger than any other and will ensure the drawers function and stay strong for many years. While each drawer has a lock, no key remains.
We have rated this antique chest of drawers as good condition. It has numerous small veneer chips, dings, and miscellaneous marks throughout. While none of these are particularly detracting, there are quite a few of them. Age separations are present on both sides and the top. These remain cosmetic only and do not affect the structural integrity of the dresser. Also, the top has sustained a few ring stains. A veneer repair can be found on the bottom right corner.
Structurally the chest remains sturdy. Each drawer opens and closes smoothly with recent repairs to the drawer runners. Finally, this chest comes apart into two parts for easier moving.
