Here is an English antique chest of drawers that was made sometime around 1890. It has a lovely dark color and five spacious drawers for storage. It remains in sturdy shape today.
Walnut Straight Front Chest
The wood used on this beautiful antique chest of drawers is a really good looking selection of burled walnut. It has a warm, vibrant color that is sure to enhance any room you use it in. Nicely complimenting the walnut are eight Chippendale style brass pulls. These pulls are quite attractive and add a little pizazz to the chest!
Condition and Construction
When it was originally made, this chest of drawers was made using time honored techniques. One of these techniques is hand cutting dovetails to fit the drawers together. A dovetailed joint is stronger than any other and will ensure the drawers function and stay strong for many years. The burled walnut veneers on the top and drawer fronts look great. While each drawer has a lock, no key remains.
We have rated this chest as good condition. It has numerous small veneer splits, chips, dings, and miscellaneous marks throughout. While none of these are particularly detracting, there are quite a few of them. This gives the chest a more rustic look than a more polished piece. The drawer bottoms have splits. Finally, the feet appear new, but match nicely.
Don’t miss out on a wonderful antique chest that will become an heirloom piece for your family!
