While differing from the North American definition some, an English antique chiffonier is defined as a low cupboard sometimes with a shelved top. This particular piece is a great example of the type. Its narrow depth make it ideal for a hall, entryway, or even dining area. Originally made in England around the year 1910, it remains beautiful today.
A stunning selection of walnut wood with beautiful swirling grains was used to create this antique chiffonier. Hand carvings, turned finials, and a broken arch pediment create stunning details on the piece. For storage, the piece contains a single cupboard. The door does lock and a key is included. Finally, the entire piece rests on turned feet in the front and square feet in the back.
Antique Chiffonier Condition
Overall, this chiffonier remains in very good condition. The mirrors have some minor spotting (where the silver tarnishes in the back of the mirror). Minor dings and marks can be found here and there, consistent with age and use. There is a slight repair on the side of the broken arch pediment. Also, The back in the middle section where the small shelves are right and left of the central cabinet have minor age separations to them. All of these things are minor, cosmetic issues that have naturally developed over time and serve to give the chiffonier character and charm.
Overall, this antique chiffonier remains a beautiful piece of furniture that would make a wonderful addition to any home!
