Mahogany Bookcase with Glass Doors
The glass doors have classic astragal molding on them. The term astragal refers to the thirteen pane design each door exhibits. What a gorgeous pattern they make! The doors do lock and one key is included. Inside are two adjustable wooden shelves that have a depth of 9.5″. They adjust to one of a couple of different brass pin supports inside.
This bookcase is made from a fine selection of flame mahogany wood. Treated to an elaborate finishing process (think shellacking where several coats of hand rubbed finish are applied), it will retain its stunning patina for lifetimes. Originally this piece was made in England around the year 1960. The wood has withstood the test of time perfectly and retains a beautiful look and warmth perfect for any room.
Overall this English mahogany bookcase with glass doors remains in very good condition. A few small wear marks exist on the feet and bottom molding. Also, the top has some minor crazing that can be seen if you look closely. Otherwise all parts work perfectly and look great! This would make a wonderful addition to any home or office. It’s rare to find such a stunning bookcase so it won’t be here long!
