Sometimes we come across really spectacular single chairs such as the one you see here. This antique hall chair is beautiful and would go perfectly in any area of the home that needs a single chair to complete the space.
Originally made in England this sitting chair dates back to around 1910. The frame is solid mahogany which has lovely hand carved details on the back rest, crown, and seat base. The upholstery is a lovely leather in a sea-green color. This leather is not original to the chair, but is in excellent condition without any problems. The solid mahogany frame of this antique hall chair has worn very well over the years. The finish is now at a wonderful, aged level which really makes this chair stand out, especially around the carvings.
Antique Hall Chair
Antique hall chairs such as this were originally used in hallways or waiting areas to allow guests a place to sit and rest when traversing the long walk from one end of an estate to another. They can be placed by themselves or next to a small table. Today they make perfect accent chairs in any area of the home from the living room or dining room to the bedroom.
Overall this chair is rated at good condition. It is clean and ready to go directly into the room you have waiting for it! The chair is sturdy but does have several repairs to mention. These are all highlighted in the photos as well. The crown has broken and repaired. Both back legs have been re-glued. There are brass caps at the bottom of the front feet which do not match. Otherwise you are looking at a very lovely and usable chair that will decorate your home for years to come!
The seat height is 18″.
