This antique large center table would look perfect in a grand foyer or entrance area. Providing ample room for an impressive center piece, you can be sure all will admire this piece. Also, it will make an impressive addition to any other room as well.
Mahogany and Oak
Crafted in England around the year 1890, the maker used oak to craft the pedestal and feet and lightly stained mahogany for the rest. The combination of light and dark woods gives this table an Empire style look. The gently shaped oval top features a shaped apron that keeps the top from looking too thin. A tapered pedestal terminates into a shaped platform supported by claw feet. Complimenting carvings on the pedestal and feet bring the whole thing together.
Antique Large Center Table Construction
The top does remove from the pedestal. Wooden pegs hold it together. There are spots for four pegs, however, only 3 remain. This is plenty to keep the top sturdy. This antique large center table is sturdy enough to support a heavy vase or plant. Also, it could be used as a small dining or meeting table.
Overall, this center table remains in good condition. The top has sustained a number of surface marks. Most of these are hard to see unless the light hits them a certain way. The apron has one age separation and areas of veneer damage. Also, the base has numerous small marks, chips, and repairs to the veneer. Despite these small cosmetic issues, the table still provides and air of elegance and beauty. You will not find a better looking antique large center table to adorn your entryway anywhere!
