This fantastic oval (almost round) carved oak antique lion head table is a late Victorian era antique from England. It was made sometime around the years 1890-1900. And while it no longer retains any leaves, the function to expand the table is still there. The pedestal actually separates in half and pulls apart with the top if you were to have leaves made and install them.
Oak Antique Lion Head Table
The oak is a very nice honey color with a distinct grain and great finish. All four legs of the pedestal feature carved lion heads and end in a carved lion foot and caster. A thick apron gives the top a very substantial look, but still provides 25″ from the floor to the bottom of the apron for comfortable sitting. At 54″ x 52.5″ this table comfortably seats six.
Overall condition of this antique lion head table remains very good! There is a tiny chip on the edge of the top and a very hard to notice chip on one of the feet. Otherwise, besides light wear marks here and there, this dining table remains in fabulous shape. It’s clean, sturdy, and ready to go right into your home and be used on a daily basis.
