Product Description

Crafted in the Victorian era around 1890 this fine bow front chest of drawers is a stunning piece. Hand crafted in England the workmanship of this piece really shows as it has retained its beauty and structure quite well. Today it has become a fine, sturdy, and attractive antique that will add nicely to your home.

With its bow front design this piece is a full 20 inches at its midpoint and 17.25 inches at its narrowest. The elegant curves of this bowed front offers a nice change from straight edges usually present in most pieces.

Mahogany Wood

Mahogany wood is always a fine choice for furniture offering both strength and beautiful grain patterns. This piece is a perfect example of of the stunning effects perfectly worked mahogany can display. The grain presented on the front displays eye catching, brilliant, rolling waves. On top ripples, like a stone dropped into a pond, radiate out from the left side.

These fine drawers are constructed with hand cut dovetails, offer plenty of space, and feature attractive round pull rings with intricately worked backs with a fine antique brass coloration. The handles appear to be new. Each drawer has a lock, but no key remains.

Good Condition

The years and previous owners of this piece have been kind to it and as such it is in very good condition for a chest from the Victorian era. There are a few minor spots of wear, easily seen in the detailed shot of the leg as well as a few minor dings on the sides. On the top there is minor chip in the finish, but not the wood itself. The underneath of the apron has sustained some dings and you will see numerous dings on the sides as shown in the pictures. Finally, the back of the top has a small board on it that is either a repaired area or was part of the original chest used because the top board was just not big enough. We cannot tell for sure. It blends well enough that it could be original.
