Originating in England, this mahogany antique open bookcase exudes an elegant charm. The mahogany’s color and grain lend themselves ideally to use in almost any room or office.
The five shelves adjust. Each can be put in one of a variety of positions via wooden alligator brackets, as you will see in the pictures. The depth of all shelves measures 10.75″. Excitingly, this makes plenty of room to display a wide variety and number of books and decorative items in a narrow space.
Antique Open Bookcase Construction and Condition
We date this antique open bookcase back to the year 1980 or so. The maker did a fantastic job of creating a sturdy and long-lasting piece of furniture. The mahogany veneer displays a wonderful patina and finish which will get more beautiful as time goes on. Satinwood inlays at the top and down the sides and a molded cornice complete the look perfectly. Also, a solid plinth base means the bookcase will always have strong support.
The condition of this bookshelf remains good and extremely sturdy. Cosmetically, there are some minor wear marks around the top crown and base, and a few of the shelf fronts. The top back corners of the top molding each have a small indent to them. None of this wear distracts from the overall charm and beauty of this antique open bookcase. Don’t hesitate to order it today!
