A unique and historical piece of furniture, this antique plan chest makes storing over-sized papers easy! The drawers lend themselves great for maps, drawings, or a number of other applications.
English Antique Furniture
This chest comes from England. Crafted there sometime around the year 1890, today it provides handsome storage. The five drawers slide in and out easily even after all these years. The top drawer comes with a lock (replaced at some point) and key. The inside of each drawer features grooves where you can put dividers to partition parts of each long drawer. There are no dividers included.
Antique Plan Chest Wood
This map chest features a mahogany top and drawer fronts. The sides and plinth base consist of pine. Using mixed woods like this was common in the late 19th Century. A brass shell pull adorns each drawer and provides a solid way to pull the drawer open. These pulls are not original to the piece but have some age to them.
The overall condition of this antique plan chest remains good. Minor wear marks exist here and there throughout the piece, but nothing that detracts from the chest. Slight age separations have occurred on both sides. These are a cosmetic phenomenon and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. Otherwise, this antique plan chest remains sturdy, clean, and strong. It will make a unique and handsome addition to any office or home!
