Here we have a unique antique shaving mirror on a mahogany frame. This beautiful piece was made in England around the year 1920. Originally this type of antique mirror would have been used by a man near a washstand and basin for shaving.
The stand the mirror sits on not only keeps the mirror stable from tipping, but also has a great look it. The serpentine shaped from and carved front feet are quite decorative. Over the years the mahogany has really developed a lovely patina as well, giving it that rich color that only time can create.
The mirror does have a reflection but it is very cloudy. The pictures give some detail of this, especially the overall shot, but it is hard to really show in pictures. If you wanted to use the mirror on a daily basis we would recommend replacing the glass. The back panels have been replaced at some point. The finials at the top of the support columns had some kind of round decoration that is no longer there and the left finial does have a small missing trim part. Throughout the antique shaving mirror there are minor dings and marks as you would expect, but overall it is very sturdy and has a pleasant overall appearance. It would make a wonderful accent to any home!
