This antique style mahogany double pedestal dining table was crafted in the US around the year 1960. Today, the mahogany remains as beautiful as ever, with a rich complexion and a pronounced grain. The wood finish is also completed with a fine coat of hand-rubbed wax, which both enriches and protects the natural beauty of the wood; the advantage of wax is that it can be reapplied twice a year to keep the wood protected and looking new. Hand-waxing is not the only traditional cabinetry technique that has been used in this lovely table, which features a double pedestal design. At one point, this table would have had one or two extra leaves, as well, and while the table still opens up, the extra leaves are no longer with the table. Each pedestal is of course very sturdy and rests on traditional brass feet. Overall, this table is quite strong and stable, although it has sustained some minor scuffs and wear marks on the table top and on the pedestals, so its condition remains very good. This mahogany dining table would certainly make a fine addition to any furniture collection.
The bottom of the table bears a label for “Essey” out of Owosso Mi.
