The oxblood leather monks chair you see here is a wonderful buttoned leather arm chair that was made in England around 1980. It was recently cleaned up by an expert upholsterer in England before shipping to our Atlanta antique furniture store.
Leather Monks Chair
The monks style is characterized by a slightly rounded back rest with buttoned wings. The style also includes rolled arms with buttoned leather and bun feet. The rolled arms are held tight with rows of brass brads which provide a nice contrast with the leather. The base of the chair is also buttoned. This leather monks chair fits the style perfectly. It is a comfortable chair with an elegant look that will not over power a room. Since this leather monks chair has some age on it, the oxblood color leather has been broken in to the ideal softness and with the ideal amount of wear. This is a look that cannot be achieved with a new piece of leather.
This leather monks chair is very sturdy and strong. The leather does not have any rips or tears. Overall it has a great color and the perfect amount of wear. The seat cushion exhibits some wrinkling in the leather which is normal for this part of the chair and sought after in older leather furniture pieces. These are all acceptable levels of wear for a piece of this age. The seat cushion is removable and provides a soft and comfortable resting place.
This leather monks chair has a seating area of 18″ wide x 22″ deep. The seat cushion is 16″ high and the arms are 24″ from the floor.
