Victorian period antiques like this side table are a rare and wonderful treat. Made in England around the year 1890, it has a historic charm and was made with a characteristic flair that no longer exists. If you are looking for something unique, this is definitely not a piece that you will see again!
Antique Victorian Side Table Features
Starting with the most unique and exciting feature, the pedestal base is both unique and gorgeous! Four splay legs converge into a platform. Two supports stem up from this platform that resemble plant stems with leaves. They gently curve out and sturdily support the top. Next, a thick apron gives the top a very substantial feel. Finally, a shaped top completes the look perfectly!
The mahogany wood that this antique Victorian side table is made from is quite sturdy. The color is a beautiful, deep brown with a warmth and charm of decades of time passing. The four legs remain sturdy. Each leg sits on a small brass caster, common for the period in which it was made.
The overall condition of this table is very good. It does have a few of minor cosmetic marks to the top that you would associate with over 120 years of time passing. The apron has a few very small age separations in the flame mahogany veneer. This does not affect the integrity of the piece, and is a purely cosmetic phenomenon. Also, there is a small veneer repair in the apron. Finally, the base and legs have a few minor wear marks as well.
This is a very special piece of furniture that would make a welcome addition to any home. Bring this antique Victorian side table home today!
