Victorian period antiques like this side table are a rare and wonderful treat. Made in England around the year 1890, it has a historic charm and was made with a characteristic flair that no longer exists. If you are looking for something unique, this is definitely not a piece that you will see again!
Antique Victorian Side Table Features
Starting with the most unique and exciting feature, this piece has a hidden drawer on the right side. The side appears to be the same as the left, but when gently pulled, a drawer comes out. What a wonderful hiding hole! Also, the twist turned legs are an obvious and elegant feature. Today, they are uncommon to find in new furniture. Finally, the hand carvings are another defining feature of this Victorian era piece. The floral motifs are a common carving from the era and look great!
The oak wood that this antique Victorian side table is made from is quite sturdy. The color is a beautiful, deep brown with a warmth and charm of decades of time passing. The four legs remain sturdy. Also, the secret drawer is joined with hand cut dovetails, a sign of authenticity.
The overall condition of this table is very good. It does have a number of minor cosmetic marks and stains that you would associate with over 120 years of time passing. On the top, the seams of the boards used to make the top are visible and the back most board has an age separation. This does not affect the integrity of the top, and is a purely cosmetic phenomenon. Finally, the front right corner has some slight damage to it as well.
This is a very special piece of furniture that would make a welcome addition to any home. Bring this antique Victorian side table home today!
The height from the floor to the table top is 32.5″.
