This charming oak antique wardrobe was crafted in England around the year 1890. Originally designed as a bedroom piece, this could function in a number of different rooms today.
The oak used in this beautiful antique wardrobe displays a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that will only continue to grow more beautiful with time. The quality of the wood’s appearance indicates that it was treated to an expert finishing process that ended in a fine coat of hand-rubbed wax, which helps enrich and protect the natural beauty of the wood. Over the years, a patina has gently settled into the oak, enhancing its appearance. Meanwhile, the turned final designs and Jacobean style carvings all compliment the wood’s beauty.
Antique wardrobe with modern functionality
This tidy wardrobe contains all of the storage space that a person could need. Inside resides two adjustable shelves in the top and a fixed shelf in the bottom. A key is present that works both locks, however, there is no hook to hold the left door closed on the top, so only the bottom doors lock securely.
Good overall condition
Being a solid wood piece well over 100 years old, this armoire has sustained a number of age separations to the wood. They most noticeable are present on the pull out brushing slide, top left corner of the bottom right door, and the top right door. These do not affect the piece’s structural integrity. Otherwise, there are numerous wear marks, small dings, and other signs of age. Together they give the piece a real rustic charm. This wardrobe would certainly make a fine addition to any English furniture collection!
The interior shelf depth measures 16.25″.
