This elegant Art Deco wardrobe was made sometime around the year 1960. Today it remains in great overall condition with plenty of space and functionality.
The selection of mahogany in this armoire is quite rich, with a luxurious complexion and a pronounced grain that would be sure to complement any setting. The right side is uniquely shaped with an off center serpentine or bowed front. Each of the four drawers features cleverly hidden handles underneath and boasts dovetailed drawer joints. Also, each drawer of this Art Deco wardrobe provides a large amount of storage.
The door on the left opens up to reveal a large area. Currently, three glass shelves allow for additional shelf storage. However, the top does include a wooden bar for hanging, so the glass shelves can be removed and this part used for hanging! The door secures with a spring loaded latch. The bottom, while hollow, is not a drawer and does not open. The space there can be accessed from inside the cabinet.
Art Deco Wardrobe Style
Clean lines, a medium brown color, and distinctive wood grain are all aspects of the Art Deco style of this armoire. The small, slanted feet also add to the look. Finally, the slightly glossy finish is also indicative of the Art Deco style.
Overall, condition of this Art Deco wardrobe remains very good! All moving parts work flawlessly. The right hand side has a small piece of replaced veneer at the bottom front corner. A small hole was cut in the back of the cabinet area. This would be good if you wanted to run any wires in for a router or similar item. Also, a few minor wear marks exist here and there, but less than you’d expect from something of this age. This beautiful and unique wardrobe will make a wonderful addition to any home!
