What a unique piece this Art Deco writing desk is! It’s a rustic and distressed desk that features a leather top surface and bank of drawers sitting on two round pedestal supports that are connected by a ground level shaped stretcher. All of this is done in a fantastic flame mahogany veneer with an eye-popping grain and deep brown color.
The leather top features a burgundy leather that is decorated with gold tooling around the edges. Leather makes a wonderful writing surface and looks elegant to boot! Below are five drawers with Art Deco style wood handles that open and close smoothly despite their age. Each drawer is fashioned with dovetailed joints. Also, the back is fully finished and veneered like the rest of the desk.
Art Deco Writing Desk Condition
This desk was made in England sometime around the year 1960. Today, it remains in good condition, but with a distressed and rustic feel. The base has sustained numerous veneer chips all around the edge. These have been colored in and now provide a textured distressing to the piece. Other minor chips, indents, and marks are prevalent throughout the rest of the desk, but none are particularly large or distracting. Both of the round pedestal supports have age separations in the veneer which further adds to the rustic appearance. The leather is in great shape with only a few minor marks to it.
These distressing marks have been sampled in the pictures. We feel they serve to give the piece a unique character and rustic appeal that will go well in any room or office. This beautiful Art Deco writing desk is a great find, don’t let it slip past!
The height from the floor to the bottom of the desk measures 23 5/8″.
