This is a unique and beautiful ball and claw foot desk from England. A craftsman has taken a carcass from 1890 and restored it to a stunning piece or burled walnut wood. Several unique features make this a rare and wonderful piece of furniture that would look good in any office or home office!
Of course the feet are one of the more unique features of this desk. Ball and claw feet are unusual and provide an elegant look. This desk, being a partners desk, has a full set of working drawers on both sides. The top of the desk has a shaped edge that is also unusual. It gives the top a more interesting look than a plain rectangle. Finally, the leather top is a very nice black with gold tooling.
Each drawer of this ball and claw foot desk was fashioned with dovetailed joints, a sign of quality and care. Also, all drawers have locks and keys. Brass swan neck handles adorn each drawer and can be used to easily open and close the drawers on their wooden runners.
Ball and Claw Foot Desk Condition
We are giving this desk an excellent condition rating. During its restoration it was given new handles, locks, leather, legs, and a good hand polish. Some of the structural support underneath was replaced as well. Therefore, structurally this ball and claw foot desk is strong and sturdy and will last for many years to come. Each knee hole apron has a small age separation in them. Also, the joints of where the legs go into the top are visible (these look like rectangles on the corners).
The knee hole area measures 21″ wide. There is 21.5″ from the floor to the bottom of the desk in the knee area at the middle, and 23.25″ at the taller areas.
