This great looking sideboard bears the mark of its maker, Beithcraft Ltd, inside the top drawer. Originally made in Scotland sometime in the 1960’s, it has survived the last almost 60 years in great condition and would make an excellent addition to any home.
Using the name of the town where they were located (Beith, Scotland) Beithcraft Ltd produced a number of beautiful pieces of furniture during the 60’s. Of the pieces we have seen by them they seem to be characterized by clean lines and sturdy craftsmanship. This buffet is no exception and was very sturdily built.
The mahogany wood has a medium brown color and is subtly accented by a satinwood string inlay on the two doors. Both doors close with a magnetic latch. The left door features a full shelf and the right a half shelf (so you can store taller items inside if desired). Of the three middle drawers, the top one is divided and lined with felt, a great place for storing silverware. Each drawer features dovetailed joints and brass ring pulls and the two doors have small brass knobs. Fluting can be found around the top and the six turned legs. You will also notice that the shape of the buffet is slightly bow fronted. This is unique and very attractive. The depth is 20.5″ in the middle and 16.25″ on the sides.
The overall condition of this mahogany buffet is very good. It has sustained a few small marks, dings, and light scratches to the top as you would expect from something of this vintage, but overall it is clean and ready to go immediately into your home!
