This charming oak pub table was crafted in England around the year 1960. Over the years, the rich oak has developed a lovely patina, which has helped flesh out the natural beauty of the wood. As a result, the oak displays a warm, lustrous complexion and a highly pronounced grain.
Overall this table remains very sturdy: the thick, hand-turned and intricately carved bulbous legs remain as sturdy as they are elegant, and the leaves continue to pull in and out very smoothly, providing a convenient expansion of surface area. The leaves bring the table from 48.75″ long to a full 74.75″ (just over six feet!) length when pulled out. The top of the table and the leaves have a planed edge which makes it look older and hand shaved. As you can see the apron is also carved with arches which is a great detail for the table. Finally, an “I” stretcher connects the four legs adding even more stability.
We have put the condition of this table as excellent. The top does show some very small old dings here and there (mostly along the edges) but they add character to the table rather than detract from it. It has a wonderful hand waxed finish which is perfect for everyday use and easy to replenish with furniture paste wax. The measurement from the floor to the bottom of the apron is 24″.
