Here is a stunning oak Welsh dresser that was made in England sometime around the year 1960. It was very well made and has stood the test of time better than most pieces of this age! You will get a large top area for display and copious amounts of storage in the lower cabinet! This is a perfect kitchen or dining room piece.
The oak wood has a lovely, medium color that really lets the attractive grain stand out on this piece. The top section’s shelves all have a groove or molding made to hold plates and the shelves have a 4.75″ depth. The top is crowned not only with dental molding, but also with an attractive shaped top apron. Inside the upper cabinet doors are a fixed shelf and below those cabinets are a small drawer on each side. Once we get to the lower cabinet there are three large drawers. Finally the bottom cabinets all open up into one large storage space with a fixed shelf inside. Some small block feet hold the entire Welsh dresser up off the ground just enough.
This is a very well made piece of furniture! Evidence of this can be seen in the drawers especially. The drawers were constructed with well made dovetails and the bottoms are solid oak planks which are tongue and grooved together for the best possible strength and longevity. Each of the doors latches with a ball bearing latch, keeping them secure. The larger drawers have pierced back brass handles. It does come in two pieces (top and bottom) for easier moving.
Overall we are rating this English oak Welsh dresser in excellent condition. There is very little to no wear on the piece. Overall the finish is in great shape and this is a sturdy piece of furniture that will last you for many years to come. Don’t miss your chance to own this stunning Welsh dresser today!
