This exquisite tiger oak pub table was crafted in England around the year 1920. Over the years, the rich oak has developed a lovely patina, which has helped flesh out the natural beauty of the wood. As a result, the tiger oak displays a distinguished complexion and a highly pronounced grain, true to its exotic namesake. Overall this table remains very sturdy: the thick, hand-carved barley twist legs remain as sturdy as they are elegant, and the leaves continue to pull in and out very smoothly, providing a convenient expansion of surface area from 34.75″ x 36″ to 59.75″ x 36″. It is a very sturdy table, supported by the x-frame stretcher connecting the legs.
One side of the pub table has some slight finish wear which we have highlighted in the pictures. The leaves have some light surface marks here and there and are a slightly. The condition of this table is more or less excellent considering, so it would make a fine addition to any furniture collection!
The term “pub table” was coined as square draw leaf tables like this are a mainstay of the English pub. Great for a small gathering, they can pull out when a larger party needs to sit. Today we use them in kitchens, breakfast nooks, and as game tables. Pub tables function great for everyday use and then can pull out for holidays and parties for extra seating or serving space.
The distance from the floor to the bottom of the apron is 23.75″.
