This lovely serpentine sideboard was originally crafted in England around 1960. The wood is a traditional mahogany which has developed a rich patina over the years. It boasts a lovely grain with some very impressive patterns. The mahogany is also complimented by ebony string inlays and a mahogany cross band. The serpentine shape of the front and the tapered legs with spade feet give the piece a Regency style and feel.
Each of the cabinets of this sideboard and the top drawer features locks and a key is included (one key works the right door, the other works the left door and drawer). Both drawers continue to open and close very easily. Inside the both cabinet resides a removable shelf.
The hardware put on this piece is a small but fancy antiqued brass ring pull. They provide a sturdy way to open the drawers and doors without overpowering the piece.
This piece remains in very good condition. The only real flaw is that the piece used to have some kind of applied carvings on the front between the drawers and on the sides. As you will see in the pictures, these have been removed and a dark outline where they were remains. Otherwise, this piece only has a very few light wear marks here and there.
The beauty of the mahogany wood combined with the serpentine shape is what really draws your eye, making this sideboard an excellent piece for an area where you want people to really see it. For example it would work well not only in a dining room, but also in a foyer, or hallway. This sideboard would make an excellent addition to any home, so don’t miss your opportunity to own it today!
