This beautiful mahogany antique bow front dresser was hand-crafted in Victorian England around 1890. The mahogany displays a fine, rich grain and lustrous complexion, which the satinwood banding around the bow front top accents quite wonderfully. Solid brass hardware also forms a nice contrast with the mahogany, while the canted corners, which are also satinwood, help to give the bow front antique dresser its elegant shape. Because this antique dresser is over a century old, it has had time to develop a lovely patina, which enriches the distinct mahogany and rosewood grains and complexions, which should only continue to grow more beautiful with time. A classic two-over-three drawer design offers plenty of storage space in this dresser, with each drawer featuring hand-cut dovetailed joints. Sturdy splayed feet provide strong support.
While this chest of drawers has certainly survived the years in very good condition, there are a few minor cosmetic things to point out. First, the brass handles are fairly new. You can see some of the lines and filled in holes from previous handles as is evident in the picture of the handle. While each drawer has locks, no key remains. The feet have some repaired marks and scuffs to them as well. Despite these minor things the overall look of the chest is full of character and charm.
This mahogany antique bow front dresser would make a fantastic addition to any home furniture collection!
