Bookcase With Glass Doors
The wood used on this piece is a stunning selection of mahogany wood which really makes the bottom doors pop. It has been finished a lovely medium brown color that would warm any room you place it in. The finish was well done and remains in great shape today. The plinth base is also still strong. This bookcase with glass doors comes in two parts (top and bottom) for easier moving.
Several unique features give this bookcase with glass doors a special look. Most obvious is the fret work on the glass doors which is done in what the English call an astragal glaze. This means each door consists of thirteen panes of glass. Inside these doors are wooden shelves. The middle row of shelves is fixed in place and have 19″ of space below them and 22.5″ of space above them. The top and bottom shelves of each section are adjustable to two different locations with a brass pin system. Just below the top are three drawers with brass handles. Inside the middle bottom cabinet is a slide out shelf and the sides each have one removable shelf. All the top doors and the set of middle bottom doors lock and one key is included. Another special feature are the beautiful lion head handles on the doors and drawers.
This bookcase with glass doors is in very good condition. There are a few very small dings near the feet and bottom moulding. Each shelf in the upper cabinet has a depth of 11.5″. The top of the bottom section where the top sits does have numerous scratches that can be seen when standing directly in front of the piece. Don’t miss this special piece, as you won’t be likely to see another one again!
