This beautiful burled walnut liquor cabinet was made in England around 1960. It has a lovely, warm patina and is quite sturdy. Inside the upper section you will find a large area with one glass shelf (removable) and a mirrored back and bottom. There is also a pull out slide. The interior has lights which turn on via a pressure button inside the top when the doors open, but it will need to be rewired to work on US electric circuits. The door locks and a single key is included. Also, the lower section contains a large storage area, one small drawer, and locks as well with the same key.
The four legs are a sturdy Queen Anne leg and quite attractive on this antique bar. All four legs are sturdy and this piece was made to hold the weight of heavy bottles. Between the legs is an intricate carved apron. The hinges and hardware on the doors are distinctly shaped and really add elegance to the piece.
Also, the two doors display a lovely selection of burled walnut. Burled walnut is a wonderful wood whose grain consists of tight burls (or swirls) that vary in color. These burls create a lovely visual display on the bar.
The overall condition of this bar is excellent. Structurally it is very sound and ready to be used on a daily basis. In the upper section there used to be two shelves, but only one remains. There are actually very few tiny wear marks. It is a beautiful piece of furniture that will be perfect for your living room, office, or den!
