This lovely mahogany bookcase was crafted in England around the year 1960. Today it remains as beautiful as ever, with a rich flame mahogany complexion and a striking grain. The brass pulls contrast beautifully with the mahogany, while the upper doors feature elegant astragal glass moulding. Astragal is the English term for the 13 pane design you see on the glass. Each section is an individual pane giving evidence to the quality of the construction of this piece.
There are four shelves in total–three in the top, one in the bottom. The upper shelves have a depth of 8.5″. Two drawers, both of which feature dovetailed joints, provide convenient storage space, while the two doors lock. For ease of movement and for shipping purposes, this bookcase disassembles very easily: the top simply sits on the bottom. This bookcase remains very sturdy and quite beautiful, although it has sustained some superficial wear marks over the years, most notably on the upper and middle moldings, so overall condition is very good.
