From a wonderful selection of mahogany wood comes this English antique Victorian style ball and claw half moon sideboard that would make a sturdy and immaculate addition to any dining room. Not only does it provide more than ample storage, it also has a unique and eye-catching look that will have your guests asking where you found such an exquisite piece.
This sideboard was made sometime around the year 1940 in England. The mahogany wood has a lovely, deep patina that will continue to grow deeper and more beautiful as it ages. For storage there are two large drawers and two cabinet sections. All drawers open and close easily and were constructed with hand cut dovetailed drawer joints. There are two large drop ring brass handles on each drawer. As you can see, the entire piece is a half circle shape, lending the piece an elegant look. The doors were constructed with lovely flame mahogany bordered with an applied molding decoration. The left and right cabinets come equipped with a sturdy wooden shelf inside. Both doors lock securely and one key is included. Finally, the rope twist carved molding adds an extra dimension of character to this extravagant piece, and all sits atop marvelous ball and claw feet.
Being such a heavy and sturdy sideboard this piece has withstood the test of time very well. There are a few minor cosmetic issues to mention. The top has sustained minor marks and indents. We have included a sampling of this in the photos. These minor cosmetic issues really lend character to an already beautiful antique sideboard. Both drawers have locks, but no key remains to work them. Also, there are sliders attached to the bottom of the feet. These can easily be removed and currently add about 1″ to the height of the piece.
