This large antique style bookcase is a newly handmade reproduction originating from the shop of a third-generation cabinetmaker in England. From the materials used to the production values themselves, everything about this bookcase is of the utmost quality. The flame mahogany, for instance, displays a remarkably rich complexion and a pronounced grain that are sure to look great in any setting. A hand finish gives the wood a deep, stunning sheen. Complementing the exquisite wood is not only the fine, stained interior, but also the solid brass, oval escutcheons, all of which house functioning locks.
Individual Pane Glass
The astragal glass itself is quite elegant, providing a classic appearance and a clear, beautifully framed view into the interior of the bookcase. Each section of glass on every door is an individual pane of glass. Also, shaped bracket feet provide sturdy support. Meanwhile, all shelves are fully adjustable. Each shelf in the upper section has a depth of 15.25″ while the lower shelf depth measures 16.5″. Each is adjustable by means of a wooden alligator bracket system. If you are unfamiliar with this system we have included a picture of it. The alligator bracket system was the first commonly used method of making adjustable shelving and remains the most sturdy type today.
The bookcase of course disassembles into three pieces: The crown at the top, the upper section of doors, and the lower section of doors. It requires two strong people to lift the upper door section onto the lower. Please be sure to let us know if require white glove delivery instead of our free curbside delivery.
