This is a handsome vintage leather top file cabinet from England. It was fashioned there sometime around the year 1960 by Bevan Funnell. The piece is perfect for file storage in an elegant case. The green leather top looks great with the mahogany and adds sophistication to the piece as well.
Both drawers lock and one key is included. There are already hanging file rails installed that are about 15″ apart which should work for most legal size hanging files. The runners can be set up to run front to back or left to right. Both drawers on this leather top file cabinet slide in and out easily on their metal runners. Also, the maker built the drawers with dovetailed joints.
The wood used on this piece is mahogany which has a fine, brown color and beautiful grain. Simple brass handles look great with the mahogany as well. On top the green leather is bordered with gold tooling. This process embosses a stunning pattern on the borders and makes an impressive edge definition. The two sides are decorated with a small molding. The back is fully finished as well with the same molding.
Leather Top File Cabinet Condition
This piece is in excellent condition. Structurally it is sound and works great. A small ding exists on the right side beaded molding. Finally, the leather has sustained light wear as well. The overall look of the leather top file cabinet is good and it will make a beautiful addition to your home or office!
