Here we have a gorgeous antique style breakfront bookcase made in England. It was made sometime around 1960 and remains in excellent condition today.
Antique Style Breakfront Bookcase
A fine selection of mahogany wood was used to create the breakfront and was then carefully finished to a warm and inviting look. All of the glass and wooden doors lock and two keys are included. The glass doors were crafted with individual panes of glass between the frets, rather than one large pane. The shelves in the upper section are adjustable via a brass pigeon hole system. All of the upper shelves have a depth of 9.75″. The lower cabinet doors each contain one wooden shelf.
One of the more attractive features of this breakfront bookcase are the lower cabinet doors. They were made with decorative molding. This is a simple way to create cabinet doors that yields a more elegant look. Combined with the nice breakfront design and dentil moulded cornice you have a really stunning piece of furniture here!
Gothic Arch Fretwork
Perhaps most attractive of all, the Gothic arch fretwork doors on the top have a cathedral look to them. Also, the glass is clear and allows great visibility to what you store inside.
As previously mentioned, the breakfront bookcase remains in excellent condition today. It has been well taken care of and exhibits only small wear marks. These marks are mostly on the crown and bottom moldings. This would be a great piece for any distinguished dining room, office, or living room!
Finally, this bookcase does come in two pieces (top and bottom ) for easier moving.
