This is a Victorian period mahogany side cabinet from England. Perfect for miscellaneous storage in any room of the house. It would make a particularly small serving buffet in a dining room.
English Antique Furniture
The origin of this cabinet is England and it was made there sometime around the year 1890. Stunning flame mahogany grain really pops out on the doors and drawer. The front is done in a classic serpentine front shape. This design creates a timeless and attractive look. Also, carved decorations on the canted corners add a little texture to the smooth moldings. Turned feet, indicative of the period, terminate in small casters. A shaped skirt runs between them on the front and sides. Finally, two turned handles adorn the drawer.
For storage this mahogany side cabinet comes equipped with a large cabinet with two doors. Inside, it is divided vertically with two fixed shelves inside. The smoothly operating drawer slides on wooden runners. Both the cabinet and the drawer lock and a single key is included that operates both locks.
We have rated this cabinet as good. It has minor cosmetic wear as you would expect from something of this age. An old repair exists to the back of the left side molding. The skirt has sustained several small veneer repairs and wear marks. Also, the left cabinet door has two slight age separations. Finally, the central vertical molding of the doors has some minor chips. Overall the piece is in very stout structural condition and has a great look and finish. It is ready to be used in your home immediately.
