This exquisite chest of drawers was made in England during the Victorian period, around 1860. Recently, a third generation furniture maker in England hand restored the chest back to its original luster. The result is a stunning dresser in superb condition. The flame mahogany has a wonderful patina that really catches your eye on the drawer fronts.
All the aspects of Victorian furniture making can be found in this dresser. All of the details from the flame mahogany used to the gentle bow front shape and splayed bracket feet come together to form a very handsome piece of furniture. The drawers are a two over three graduated drawer design. This means the drawers get slightly deeper as they go down. The brass plate back handles are new handles. Original pulls rarely survive the years of changing styles so this is not unusual.
This chest is in excellent condition having just been restored in England. There are locks present but no key. There are a few cosmetic things to mention that you can see in the pictures. Both sides of the chest have filled in age separations. There are a few wear marks throughout that the restorer has cleaned up and waxed over. They now provide handsome character to the chest without being distracting. The result is a phenomenal antique dresser that will last your family for many years to come!
