Unlike traditional Chesterfield sofas, the Monks style leather sofa was made for comfortable lounging rather than correct sitting posture in mind. While both styles seek to achieve a certain look, the Monks concentrates more on comfort. The result is a gorgeous couch that you can have a lazy day in anytime!
Rich Oxblood Leather
Originally made in England sometime around the year 1980, this leather is a top grade leather that was semi-aniline dyed a gorgeous oxblood (burgundy) color. Semi-aniline dyed leather is ideal for sofas as it provides wonderful color while maintaining a protective layer of “finish” on the leather. With a seating area that measures 53″ wide x 23.5″ deep and is 16″ from the floor, there is plenty of space to relax! The arm rests are a comfortable 22″ from the floor. Very subtle mahogany bun feet keep the sofa off the floor.
Overall this sofa is rated as good condition. There are a few flaws to point out. Minor wear marks exist here and there throughout the sofa as you will see in some of the detail images. Both arm rests and the cushions have minor crackling and wrinkling. The center cushion has a rubbed area on the front left corner (see image). Otherwise this is a sturdy sofa that overall looks very good and will last for many years to come.
