Supple red leather and a classic, elegant look define this pair of leather club chairs. They were made in England sometime around the year 1980. This style is known as a “monk” style with the curved, tub shaped back rest. Often found in distinguished areas such as offices, studies, and dens, they provide comfortable sitting and unique style.
Red Pair of Leather Club Chairs
The red leather is finely tufted along each rolled arm rest and the rolled backrest. Besides being quite beautiful, the red leather is soft to touch and comfortable to sit in. It has aged very well and is at its peak of comfort. Contrasting the soft look are rows of brass nail heads up and down the front of the arm rests. The antiqued look of the nails fits well with the overall style. Finally, short mahogany bun feet lift slightly and provide sturdy support to this pair of leather club chairs.
Overall, condition remains very good for the pair. The leather has developed some wrinkling and minor crackling (on the arm rests) that we expect from something of this vintage. It is a look difficult to produce except by the passing of time, making them quite desirable. Throughout are very small minor scuffs here and there. Finally, one back rest has a dark line stain in its center that doesn’t stand out too much. Whether used on either side of a sofa or by themselves in a room, this pair of leather club chairs is sure to provide comfort and style to your home or office for many years to come.
The seating area on each chair measures 19.5″ wide, 22.5″ deep, and the seats are 16″ from the floor while the arm rests are 22″ high.
