This beautiful oak dropleaf table was recently crafted by hand in England. The maker is a third generation furniture maker in England who makes all his furniture by hand using old world methods. For example the finish on this piece is a seven step, hand rubbed finish that gives the table a beautiful and antique feel. The oak has a wonderful grain to it and has been lightly distressed for added rustic charm. The top is bordered with a yew wood cross band which slightly contrasts the oak and gives it a little more finished and formal look while still being an English country style piece. Supported by four shapely cabriole legs, this table is quite sturdy. The dropleaf design is quite versatile and can be used as a sofa table, hall table, dining table, and many other applications. This table measures 72″ long x 23″ wide when closed and 48″ wide when fully opened. Please note that there is not much contrast between the banding and the oak as shown in the close up of the banding. The overall pictures of this Irish wake table make it appear as if there is more contrast than there really is.
