Made from a gorgeous elm wood, this complimenting pair of nightstands are an eye-catching and functional answer for bedside chests. As you can see in the overall picture the elm grain on these chests is not exactly the same on both tops or drawer fronts, but they go together very well. This is a wonderful look because you get two pieces that go together well but also have their own individual beauty as well.
Elm Pair of Nightstands
Both of the nightstands feature three drawers that open and close very smoothly. These drawers are constructed with dovetailed joints. Dovetailed joints are the best way to join a drawer as they provide strength and durability throughout the life of the furniture. Each drawer also features two antiqued brass swan neck drop pulls that provide a slight contrast to the elm wood. The feet of this pair of nightstands are bracket feet that are very strong and sturdy.
Beautiful Elm Wood
The top and drawers fronts are a stunning elm wood. This elm has a chocolate brown color and the grain is very dark and wide. Interspersed within the wide grain are various knots which give the elm so much character. You will also notice the black line decal that accents the top and drawer fronts. The sides are made from mahogany and stained to match the elm.
These chests were originally made in England around 1960. At that time there were only a plain mahogany. An English furniture maker recently purchased these chests and added the charming elm veneers to the tops and drawer fronts. Because this pair of nightstands is not new, you will notice old wear around the sides of the chests (as shown in pictures). This just adds to the history and character of the nightstands.
