This is a gorgeous set of six antique Louis Philippe style dining chairs. There are six chairs total, two with arms, four without. These chairs were made in France sometime around 1960 and are still beautiful and functional today.
Antique Dining Chairs
Each chair possesses two unusual features that make them truly unique chairs. First the back rests have a prominent curve across the top. This makes a wonderful compliment to the simple turned legs. Secondly each chair is comprised of sturdy and beautiful mahogany wood. The medium brown color of the wood makes it ideal for many rooms and settings.
Louis Philippe Style
Several aspects of these chairs are taken from the Louis Philippe style. The curved back legs where the curve extends all the way to the top of the chair and ends in a scroll detail are the most indicative of the style. When viewed from an angle or from the side you can also see the top of the back rests are rolled. This overall curvy style is quite elegant.
All six of these Louis Philippe style dining chairs are in good condition. One side chair has a stout repair to one back leg. There are no other repairs or breaks. Each chair features minor and moderate wear marks. Also, each chair exhibits fading to the mahogany color. The result is a lighter brown than usual. The seat cushions have an older fabric on them that is in good condition but is starting to show its age. Otherwise these are good, sturdy chairs that will last many years.
The arm chairs measure 22.75″ wide x 21″ deep x 34.5″ tall and have an arm height of 27″. The side chairs measure 19.5″ wide x 20″ deep x 34.5″ tall. All six chairs have a seat height of 19.25″.
