Crafted in England around the year 1960, this small mahogany bookcase would make a lovely addition to any home or office. It remains in sturdy condition with six adjustable shelves and a locking set of astragal glass doors.
Small size, convenient storage
Measuring in at 55″ wide x 12″ deep x 42″ high, this small mahogany bookcase doesn’t take up much room. Yet it maximizes what space it offers, with six adjustable shelves behind locking doors that include one key. The result is a convenient bookcase with an interior shelf depth of 9.75″.
Beautiful antique style
Designed in a classic antique Georgian style, this bookcase is every bit as beautiful as it is useful. The mahogany displays a rich, lustrous complexion and contrasts wonderfully with the simple moulding, bracket feet, and astragal glass doors. Conveniently, the doors also offer a lovely view into the interior, so although this bookcase is designed to store books, it would also make a nice display cabinet in a formal dining room or similar area where it might showcase collectibles or fine dishes. As a result this versatile and attractive small mahogany bookcase would make a great addition to any quality antique furniture collection.
As sturdy as it is beautiful, this bookcase remains in good overall condition. All three locks work easily with the key. The mahogany has aged beautifully and has developed the beginnings of a rich patina. The top molding does have a well done small repair. Also, there are some small indents and damage marks to the top right corner molding and bottom corner of the left door. We have included samples in the pictures. This bookcase has certainly stood the test of time and is just as much a wise investment as it is an attractive and useful antique.
