Product Description

This Victorian period antique sideboard is an English piece made sometime around the year 1890. Made with beautiful mahogany wood and featuring a brass gallery along the back, this buffet is ready to add beauty and elegance to your home!

Brass Gallery

One of the unique features of this sideboard is the brass gallery along the back. Originally, some sort of tapestry would have hung from this gallery. Although no tapestry remains today, you could add one of your own or simply enjoy the added height the brass gives to the piece. The height from the floor the top of the sideboard is 36.5″ and from the floor to the top of the brass rail is 52″.

Victorian Period Antique Sideboard

The first thing most people will note about this lovely buffet is the stunning flame mahogany wood that has been expertly done on the cabinet doors. The wispy grain and the warm patina of the wood is a look that cannot be duplicated except over time. Complimenting the wood is satinwood and ebony inlays around the doors, drawers, top, and even the legs. Inlay like this is very time consuming to do so it’s obvious that someone put significant effort into making this Victorian period antique sideboard something special.
Both cabinet doors lock and one key is included. In the right door a pull out, lead lined tray is present. This would have originally been used for wine bottles. The top drawer is lined with brown felt. The felt is old and ding, and most people will probably want to replace it.

For being over 120 years old, this sideboard is still in very good condition. It has a few old dings on the top and around the legs as you would expect. There are also two small marks on the right side. None of these are large or detract from the beauty of the piece. The left door does have a small repair by the bottom hinge which we have included a picture of. The brass on the gallery is tarnished and there is a small repair to the bottom moulding on the left side that is quite hard to notice. The doors and drawers still work easily and the entire sideboard is quite sturdy.
