A burgundy leather club chair like this would have been used either in a fine office, extravagant home, or den. The classic style which includes the buttoned leather and arms the same height as the back is timeless.
English Club Chair
This leather club chair was made in England around 1980. It is quite comfortable to sit in as it promotes proper posture while being softer than it looks. The seating area measures 16″ wide x 21″ deep and the seat height is 17″. The rolled arms and back are all covered in fine, buttoned burgundy leather. The base of the club chair has a row of buttons as well, keeping it from looking too plain. Four small but sturdy casters allow the club chair to sit sturdily or be easily moved out of the way. The rows of brass brads on the front of the arms and the back of the chair provide a subtle contrast to the burgundy leather.
The rich leather has aged ideally throughout the years and has obviously been well take care of. The result is a tufted arm chair with that sought after broken-in leather look. The sides and back have some minor scuffs to them as you will see in the pictures. Structurally this club chair is quite sturdy and strong. It is up for everyday use in any home or office!
