Made around the year 1960, this William and Mary style vintage desk is a handsome piece that would work well in a home office, study, or library! Featuring a wood top, two easily opening and closing drawers, and turned legs it’s both stylish and functional.
The mahogany wood has a deep, dark color that goes well with most furniture. This vintage desk has two drawers in total, each one fashioned with dovetailed joints. None of the drawers were made with locks. The desk sits up on stunning turned legs, which give the piece a lighter feel than a solid base. This desk does NOT break down, however, it’s small size should allow it to easily fit through doorways etc.
Also, this desk was made with a finished back! A finished back makes it simple to place the desk anywhere in a room.
Vintage Desk Condition
The mahogany wood used to create this piece has a deep, brown color and the beginnings of a lovely patina. Overall rustically charming in appearance, the top is comprised of three boards. The top and legs in particular have had their share of markings, indents, etc. While these small marks are numerous, they do not detract from the overall beauty of the desk, but rather add to its authenticity and charm.
At some point, a stretcher connected the front legs across where you would sit. This was removed at a later point to allow a chair to push under the desk. The distance from the floor to the bottom of the vintage desk measures 22″.
