This vintage narrow bookcase gives the illusion of being larger than it is. At only 48″ wide it will fit in many places in the home and provide storage and display in classic style! We found this wonderful piece in England where it was made sometime around the year 1960 and have imported it to our Atlanta, GA antique furniture store.
Stunning Yew Wood
English furniture was sometimes made using the beautiful yew wood. A native wood to the country, it is often finished with a gorgeous golden color while the grain is relatively straight and can be speckled with bird’s eyes. The top of this vintage narrow bookcase is decorated with a dental molded cornice and the glass on the doors is made up of individual panes in an astragal (thirteen pane) pattern. Inside the top are six adjustable shelves and the bottom has three adjustable shelves. All of the doors lock and two keys are provided. There are also three drawers for storage all of which open and close easily and were made with dovetails. Antiqued brass swan neck handles were used on the drawers.
Vintage Narrow Bookcase Condition
This bookcase is in good condition. There are light marks here and there on the doors. The bracket feet and bottom molding have moderate wear (indents and marks) all the way around the piece. We have provided a picture sampling this wear. Otherwise nothing is broken and all of the doors and drawers operate like they should.
The top shelves have a depth of 8.75″. This vintage narrow bookcase does break down into top and bottom for easier moving. Don’t miss your chance to own this deceptively narrow piece for your home or office today!
