This beautiful William and Mary style tallboy dresser was made in England around the year 1840. The walnut wood has a splendid light color swirled with stunning grain and darker areas. All seven drawers provide great storage and still open and close easily. The top two smaller drawers are fitted with dividers. With the functional drawers and beautiful wood, this tallboy dresser is sure to look great in any home!
The drawer handles and locks have been changed. They have some age to them, but are not original. Also, no key remains for the locks. The feet have also been replaced at some point.
If you look at the close up picture of the handle with the keyhole in it, you will see a few diamond shaped places of patched veneer from the smaller drawers.
Overall, this dresser is sturdy and in good condition. It does have a number of cosmetic things to point out. We feel these issues provide the piece with additional character and charm, but we point them out in case you don’t feel the same way. The top, moldings, and sides have developed a number of small age separations. This is a cosmetic phenomenon that is common in antique furniture. Also, the back top right corner has sustained some touched up damage. Looking between the front right foot and the middle right foot, you will see a small section of replaced wood.
Throughout this dresser, there are various small dings, indents, and other wear marks. A good sampling of this can be seen in the photos. Several of the feet have inactive (and treated) wood worm holes. Finally, this chest does come in two sections (top and base) for easier moving.
