Made in England around 1960, this yew wood bookcase features a mirrored-back, drop down cocktail cabinet in the center of the top. Three keys are included (one for the liquor cabinet, two for the doors). Two glass doors make up the top and there are seven adjustable and removable glass shelves in the top. You will also notice that the glass doors have etched Gothic arches in them, quite an elegant touch. The base has three drawers and three cabinets for a plethora of storage space. All doors lock with keys. All of the drawers are dovetailed, a sign of high quality craftsmanship, and adorned with brass swan neck drop pulls. The yew wood that makes up this piece has a particularly striking grain.
This yew wood bookcase with cocktail cabinet is in good condition overall. It has sustained minor wear marks throughout. On the very back, bottom corner of the left side there is a small chip missing from the base and the left top of the crown has a small dark mark to it on the front. On the lower section the left lock works, but is difficult to operate. At one time the top and liquor cabinet section were lit, but these lights would need to be re-done to work on our electric circuits. These are minor cosmetic issues you would expect to find on a vintage piece of furniture and do not detract from the loveliness of the bookcase.
All of the shelves in the upper cabinets have a depth of 10″.
