This gorgeous yew dining table was crafted in England in the year 1960 by Bevan Funnell. Today, the yew remains quite beautiful, with a rich complexion and a pronounced grain that are sure to complement any setting. With a single leaf that expands the table from 50″ – 64.5″ in length, this piece is also very flexible and thus perfect for nearly any occasion.
Extending Oval Dining Table
When not needed, the leaf easily removes with just one person. Simply undoing the brass catches under the table allows you to easily slide the top halves apart and remove the leaf for storage somewhere else. The halves then slide together and re-secure with the brass catches.
The base is a sturdy four leg single pedestal. The single pedestal gives the advantage of not being in the way for chairs to push in at any angle. With the swept legs, fluting, and brass casters the base has a very Duncan Phyfe look to it.
The top has sustained a few very minor wear marks, mostly in the form of almost imperceptible surface indents. These are hard to see without the glare of an overhead light, so we have included a glare image to show them. The legs also sport a few minor marks here and there. Also, the top has developed some minor crazing that is almost imperceptible. The table is quite sturdy and operates smoothly and therefore is in excellent condition.
