Antique Breakfront Bookcase
Made to be the ultimate office or dining room piece. this antique breakfront bookcase is both impressive and functional. Over the years this piece has been kept in good condition. There are some minor marks on the middle molding and the counter area where the top and bottom sections meet. The base has numerous small chips and marks as shown in the pictures.
The very top is adorned with a moulded cornice. All of the shelves in the top section have a depth of 9″ and are adjustable with a brass pigeon hole system into three different positions. The central area of the top has a large arch with a glass shelf. There is a light there but it would need to be swapped out with one that would work on US circuits. The bar section below that unlocks and folds down to reveal a mirrored interior. Fluted lines between the sections and on the sides provide elegant detail to the overall style. The bottom section contains four doors total that open into three storage areas for this antique breakfront bookcase. The storage sections are equipped with one adjustable wooden shelf.
The wood used is a beautiful selection of yew wood containing plenty of flare in the grain. Yew wood furniture like this is hard to find and extremely beautiful. All of the doors lock with two included keys and the entire antique breakfront bookcase comes apart in two sections (top and bottom) for easier transporting. You won’t find a lovelier cabinet out there so don’t miss this one!
